Florida Sales Tax

Governor Jeb Bush recently signed legislation authorizing Florida’s second annual sales tax holiday for hurricane preparedness. This is an important component of Governor Bush’s comprehensive plan to instill a “culture of preparedness” in Florida. The sales tax holiday begins on Saturday, May 21, to coincide with National Hurricane Preparedness Week, and ends on June 1, the first day of the 2006 Hurricane Season. It is important for all Floridians have a family disaster plan in place BEFORE a disaster threatens. So, I encourage you to prepare as soon as possible. I also urge all Florida business owners to take appropriate measures, including developing a disaster plan, to protect your businesses and business records, and to lay out how you will get your business up and running following a hurricane or other devastating event. Your plan should also include a process to account for employees after an event.
