Area home prices keep rising: Even as the various governmental authorities on the Gulf Coast are searching for affordable housing options, home prices continue to skyrocket. Yesterday, the Florida Association of Realtors released the March 2005 sales report showing sales of single-family existing homes.

In the Sarasota-Bradenton metropolitan area, the median sales price in March 2005 was $305,400, a 36% increase over March 2004’s median sales price of $224,100. Statewide, the median sales price in March was $212,300, a 28% increase from last March.
